The Late 19th Century

mid 19th century poet

a recluse - locked herself away

writing not published until after her death

had a fear of death

poems not titled; numbered

a lot of poems about death and heaven

very dark and gloomy poems

I really didn't like Dickinson's poems. They were too depressing. All the death and such. She was way to secluded and alone. She should have gotten out more. Maybe then she wouldn't have been so depressing.

Plus : Didn't we do Dickinson stuff last semester? With Whitman? Thought so ...
